Applications Engineer, Electromagnetics


Location: Southern California


PADT is currently seeking a full-time ANSYS Applications Engineer to join our sales team in Southern California

Summary:

PADT helps innovative companies tackle complex engineering design challenges using leading simulation and rapid prototyping technologies and is currently seeking a High-Frequency Electromagnetics Application Engineer for its Simulation Sales and Support Groups. The Electromagnetics Application Engineer is responsible for helping customers solve complex engineering problems using ANSYS software products. The position involves working closely with customers and internal teams in a consultative and supportive technical role. The ability to research problems and find solutions to wide variety of problems is paramount. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Work closely with potential and current customers to scope technical solutions that meet and optimize their operational needs

  • Develop, organize, and deliver introductory technical training courses on the use of ANSYS electromagnetic simulation products

Job Requirements:

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamental understanding of microwave, RF, antenna, and general high-frequency electromagnetics concepts
  • Minimum of 3 months experience using ANSYS HFSS (can be obtained in a university setting)
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and diverse team environments
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to develop practical engineering solutions to difficult problems
  • Exceptional customer service aptitude, as well as communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Available for occasional travel (about 20%) Preferred:
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation for real-world industry applications
  • Experience with ANSYS SBR+ (Savant) and/or EMIT
  • Familiarity with common programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.)

Application Engineer, Low Frequency Electromagnetics


Location: Torrance, CA


PADT is currently seeking an Application Engineer for ANSYS Simulation Software in its Torrance, CA office.

Summary:

The Application Engineer provides technical expertise for ANSYS simulation software in support of PADT's sales team through strategic pre-sales and technical scoping activities utilizing proven domain expertise, problem solving, demonstrating and presenting to customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Presenting PADT's expertise and capabilities to prospects and customers and helping to grow relationships
  • Conducting in-person and web-conference discovery meetings with customers
  • Defining customer requirement specifications, and discussing software capability
  • Assisting in the development and generation of formal sales proposals to ensure technical accuracy
  • Perform benchmarking with ANSYS tools as needed and collect various performance and accuracy metrics
  • Coordinating and delivering sales collateral, presentation project plans, process flow, provision specifications, and service level definitions
  • Creating detailed implementation plans inclusive of sales strategy by addressing schemes, service level agreements, and network validation and testing procedures
  • Providing expert advice on application of ANSYS to specific use cases
  • Providing on-going technical support via in-person, phone, email, or web conference
  • Training customers on software applications or use cases
  • Delivering professional consulting services in the form of update presentations, periodic meetings, or account reviews with customer stakeholders
  • Providing support and mentoring on ANSYS products for existing PADT customers
  • Educating colleagues in areas of expertise and participate in training to expand knowledge in other areas
  • Creating and maintain sales case studies for all non-standard sales opportunities
  • Creating training material and conduct training classes as needed

  • Education/Experience/Skills: (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline
  • At least two years of professional engineering experience utilizing engineering software
  • Demonstrated use of relevant ANSYS software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA software packages
  • Thorough understanding of electromagnetic devices and/or electrical system design and simulation, with a specialty in one or more of the following applications:
    • Electric Machines
    • Actuators/Solenoids
    • Magnetic Sensors/Transformers
    • Power Electronics
    • Low Frequency Electromagnetic experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Tolerance for and ability to interact with customers and prospects, often with incomplete or conflicting requirements
  • Beginner computer programming skills
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Have a passion and drive for personal technical excellence

Education/Experience/Skills: (Preferred)

  • MS degree a plus
  • Experience using ANSYS Maxwell is a plus
  • Electric Machine Design experience is a plus
  • Prior training/teaching experience is a plus

Application and Support Engineer, ANSYS


Location: Austin, TX


PADT is currently seeking a full-time Application and Support Engineer to work with our sales team in Austin, Texas. 

Summary

The Application and Simulation Support Engineer provides technical expertise to support PADT’s customers while also assisting PADT’s ANSYS sales team through strategic pre-sales and technical scoping activities utilizing, engineering knowledge, simulation experience, problem solving, communicating, eagerness to learn, as well as demonstrating and presenting to customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support ANSYS sales team by acting as the technical resource throughout the sales process
  • Travel with PADT’s sales team to prospects and customers, using sales knowledge and technical skills to move sales opportunities to the next level.
  • Identify potential customers and help match PADT’s and ANSYS’ solution to customer’s needs
  • Define customer requirement specifications.
  • Create and present technical product demonstrations to customers and prospects.
  • Perform benchmarking with ANSYS tools and collect various performance and accuracy metrics
  • Educate colleagues on areas of expertise and participate in training to grow into other expertise areas

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and at least two years of professional experience.

Minimum of two years’ experience with commercial FEA, CFD or Electromagnetic analysis tools such as ANSYS, Fluent, HFSS, STAR-CCM, CST, etc.

Strong theoretical understanding of mechanical structures, dynamics, electromagnetics, fluid mechanics and engineering math as relevant to degree and experience.
